Mónica Calle's theatrical work extends over three decades, and includes stagings that are considered historic in the Portuguese context. One of these works is "Ensaio Para Uma Cartografia", premiered at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, where the word disappears to give way to the maximum expression of bodies and resistance. "O Escuro Que Te Iluminas ou The Last Seven Words of Christ" continues this work, taking the concepts of resistance and overcoming, which were at the center of the play, to the public space.

Based on an autobiographical exercise, each participant inscribes her place in the performance, based on her individual emotional experience. The result is a joint performative movement, choreographed as a unit and not looking for an established narrative.

In the common premise resides the resistance – physical and emotional, of the group and the individual – in a show with no defined duration. “A performance that will depend on the limits of the performers themselves, in response to effort, repetition or weather conditions, until exhaustion reveals the meaning of the show, for themselves and for the audience”.
