O caminho para a utopia é sempre doloroso, quer caminhemos em diante quer voltemos lá atrás.

Se a utopia nos obriga a caminhar na direcção de onde viemos, talvez seja melhor
esfolarmo-nos ou aniquilarmo-nos.

Disseram-nos que nunca devemos voltar atrás, que deve ser como num massacre,

mas nós tentamos resistir e vingar na nossa procura, quer caminhemos em diante quer voltemos lá atrás.

Da desavença e da transgressão, urge o utópico.
Buscamos o lírico no meio da discordância: almejamos o poético e tememos as nossas
inquietações. Uma leve transgressão é nos severamente punida. Um castigo para a eternidade.
Vivemos na distopia com a certeza de que o caos permanecerá.
Procuramo-nos com as garras de quem luta contra um lobo e, pesaroso, o devora.
Mergulhamos até aos líquidos cristalinos do corpo do outro e arrancamos a beleza das nossas
peles cheias.

Este projecto surge da vontade de pensar o ser humano - a complexidade do seu consciente e a corporalidade da sua primitividade - num alcance utópico, numa esfera onde a quimera é o desejável mas o caminho até ela é turbulento. Meet me halfway coloca no espaço dois corpos despojados de pensamento, reagentes de uma intuitiva consciência, esqueletos animais que se observam, aproximam, admiram e exploram. Seres pensantes mas também primitivos, que se deixam sucumbir à sua animalidade e se devoram, se testam e levam ao limite. Assiste-se ao indivíduo, a solo - do que é feito e do que é capaz? -, assim como ao mútuo conhecimento - o que descobrir no outro? Trata-se a intimidade através do (re)conhecimento do outro: a proximidade, a ternura, a tesão,
a tentativa, a frustração, a renegação, o medo, a confusão. E tudo o que habita do outro lado, o oposto. Descobrem-se, experimentam-se: testam a carne de que são feitos, indagando nos meandros da desordem. Estes dois corpos procuram um lugar comum, uma utopia - possivelmente a tal ilha onde tudo converge. Mas como chegar à utopia? Que percurso tumultuoso é preciso sentir? Quando se alcança esse lugar irrealizável? Acredita-se que a utopia surge na imundice, na brutalidade da existência humana. É preciso chafurdar, quase afundar, é preciso ir, caminhar sempre no meio do caos, e é preciso sonhar, acreditar no que não se alcança. Meet me halfway corporiza a inquietante busca pela utopia e esse caminho libertino. Percorre-se o devasso, o espaço negligente, na procura de uma perfeita ilusão.

Intenta-se a criação de um projecto transdisciplinar, que acolha o corpo como matéria principal mas que também o pense de outra forma, desfragmentada e descontextualizada. Meet me Halfway é uma performance adaptável a diferentes espaços de apresentação, vislumbrando a ideia de uma peça site specific. Unida a grande vontade de materializar o corpo aos conhecimentos artísticos que juntos partilharam durante o PACAP 3, os criadores e intérpretes trazem no seu background mundos distintos - as danças urbanas e as artes visuais - , mas munem-se da mesma paixão: o homem e a procura em explorar, criar e entender novas imagens para o corpo. Entende-se o corpo como matéria fragmentada, cheia de potenciais físicos em permanente processo de dilaceração. Fala-se do corpo unificado e ramificado, o que resulta da inerente fragmentação, dando uso a todas as micromatérias. Como evidência disso, pretende-se recorrer durante todo o espetáculo a variadas componentes do corpo como, por exemplo, a voz e a imaginação. Neste projecto propõe-se uma viagem por uma realidade paralela, onde o corpo tem a oportunidade de explorar outras possibilidades de existência, de permeabilidade e de metamorfose, gerando durante o processo uma narrativa paralela. Acredita-se na utopia - na experiência utópica -, na capacidade do homem, no desejo. Parte-se desta ideia com o intuito de explorar fisicamente as sensações da existência corporal, da própria e da outra e da interacção entre estas. Despoleta-se o despojamento do conteúdo, tornando-se visível a silhueta do contorno, como se se tratasse de uma tentativa de apagar um todo, como forma de alcançar a utopia através do detalhe: vêem-se dois corpos que se descobrem a cada minuto. Como vão e voltam estes corpos de um estado conhecido de movimento em direcção a um estado desconhecido, paralelo, potencial, supra consciente? Como elaboram este percurso, como se desenha esta cartografia? A imaginação é uma ferramenta constante no processo de criação, a ideia de viagem e ao mesmo tempo o corpo voluntário a todo este processo que se descobre a cada movimento. A pluralidade dos modos de pensar sobre o mundo, de o representar, mas também como procurar contribuir para o sua configuração, inventando um novo espaço onde se promove a individualização da expressão, uma movimentação onde a percepção se centra na sensação de tocar no corpo do outro durante um processo de improvisação contínua, mantendo assim a veracidade das intenções e sensações. Estes corpos experimentam a passagem de um estado-matéria para outro, como que se há muito não existisse movimento; testando a gravidade e os obstáculos, a posição do corpo num determinado espaço e tempo em relação a outro, os limites e os confortos do corpo. Pretende-se explorar a mútua descoberta dos corpos e do espaço que habitam: a descoberta longe da sociedade, onde não existem ideais impostos pela mesma; enquanto reconfiguram e redescobrem um novo lugar.

The pathway to an utopia is always painful, either walking ahead or by going back.

If the utopia makes us go back from where we came from, maybe it's better to skin or annihilate ourselves.

We were told that we should never go back, that it must be like a massacre,

but we try to resist and avenge in our inner search, no matter if you're going forward or backwards.

From quarrel and misconduct, comes the utopian.

We search the lyric in the middle of the discord:

We aim for the poetic and we fear our concerns.

One slight transgression will result in severe punishment for us. One punishment for eternity.

We live in a dystopia knowing that chaos will endure.

We search ourselves with the ferocity of whom fights a wolf and mournfully, devours it.

We dive to the crystalline liquids of our body and tear apart the beauty of our loaded skins.

This project roses from the will to (re)think the human’s condition - the complexity of its conscientiousness and the embodiment of its primal essence - in an utopian extent, a sphere where the chimera is the wished destination but the path to reach it is turbulent. "Meet me halfway" (provisional title) places 2 bodies in space stripped of thought, reactants of an intuitive conscience, animal skeletons that observe each other, come closer, admire and explore. Thinking beings but also primitive, that allow themselves to succumb to their own animality, devouring each other, testing each other, taking themselves to the limit. We watch the individual, solo - what's it made of and what's it capable of? -, but we also see mutual knowledge - What to discover in the other? Intimacy it's addressed through the (mutual a)knowledge(ment): The proximity, the tenderness, the lust, the try, the frustration, the re-denial, the fear, the confusion. And everything that inhabits the other side, the opposite. They experiment themselves and the other: the flesh of what their made of is tested, seeking the intricacies of disorder.

These two bodies search for the same place, an utopia - possibly that island where everything converges to. But how to get to the utopy? Which tumultuous path is necessary to feel? When do you reach that unrealizable place? It's believed that the utopia rises in the filthiness, in the brutality of human existence. It's necessary to wallow, almost sink, going is necessary, walking in the middle of chaos, and you need to dream, to believe on what you can't reach. "Meet me halfway" embodies the unsettling search for the utopia and that libertine way, going through the profligate, the negligent space, in the search of a perfect illusion.

The intended purpose is the creation of a trans-disciplinary project, that embraces the body as the main subject but also to think of it in another way, de-fragmented and off context. "Meet me halfway" is an adaptable performance for different stages (spaces), envisioning the idea of a "site specific" play. By uniting a willingness to materialize the body to the artistic knowledge that was shared together during the Program in Performing Arts (PACAP 3), the creators and performers bring in their background distinct worlds - The urban dances and the visual arts -, but are provided with the same passion: the human being and the quest to explore, create and understand new images for the body. The body is to be understood as fragment matter, full of physical potential on a continuous process of torment. We speak of the unified and ramified body, resulting in the associated fragmentation, putting to use all the micro-matters. As evidence of this, throughout the show we intend to resort to several components of the body including the voice and the imagination. This project proposes a journey through a parallel reality, where the body gets the opportunity to explore other possibilities of existence, permeability and metamorphosis, creating during that process a parallel narrative. We believe in the utopia - the utopian experience -, in human's capacitance, in desire. We start from this idea with the intent of physically exploring the sensations of the body existence, it's own and others existence and their interactions. A flushing of content is sparked, making the body shape visible, as if we're dealing with an attempt to erase a whole, as a way to achieve the utopia through the detail: We see two bodies that discover each other in each minute. How do these bodies go back and forward from a known stage of movement to a parallel, super-conscious, near to the limit of the unknown stage? How to elaborate this journey, how do you draw this map? Imagination is a constant tool in the process of creation, the idea of the journey and at the same time, the will of the body for each process discovered in every movement. The diversity of ways to think the world, of acting it, but also to search how to contribute for it's configuration, creating a new space where you promote the individualization of expression, a movement where perception center's itself in the sensation of touching each others body during a continuous improvisation process, allowing to keep the truthfulness of feelings.
